Pu-erh is unique to China and is dubbed the Chinese Penicillin for its curative properties. It is intentionally aged, sometimes as long as 50 years, and a friendly bacteria is added. Known generally as a cholesterol cutter and digestive aid, Pu-erh is often described as earthy. Its rich dark brew is warm and soothing, the perfect tea to wean coffee drinkers away. This variety is pressed into birds nests and can sit in the cup with little need for a strainer.
